Chromium corundum is produced by melting aluminum oxide powder, with chromium oxide and other components added, at high temperatures, resulting in a pink or deep red color. Its hardness is similar to that of white corundum, but its toughness is higher than that of white corundum. Chromium corundum features good crystallinity, pure color, low impurity content, uniform particle size distribution, low magnetic material content, high bulk density, and high toughness value, earning high praise from users at home and abroad.
It is used in the field of special high-temperature refractory materials, and its high-temperature resistance is higher than that of white fused alumina and brown fused alumina. Abrasives made from it offer good durability and a high surface finish in grinding. They are suitable for precision grinding of measuring tools, machine tool spindles, instrument parts, threaded workpieces, template grinding, and other applications.
Chromium corundum materials can also be used in the coated abrasives production industry, mainly for sanding wood, and can also be used for grinding non-ferrous metals such as copper and brass. Compared with white corundum, chromium corundum is less prone to breakage, thus forming a smooth surface.
