Ceramic Corundum Code:CA
Ceramic corundum is produced by the sol-gel method, briefly introduced as follows:
I、Characteristics of ceramic microcrystalline abrasives prepared by the sol-gel method:
Ceramic microcrystalline abrasives prepared by the sol-gel method are sintered abrasives, with extremely small grain sizes, only 100---500nm, only a few hundredths of the crystal size of ordinary corundum abrasive grains, one 46# grit abrasive contains hundreds of millions of grains, during grinding, traditional fused corundum abrasive grains become flattened and dulled after being worn away on the working surface, under the action of grinding force, the abrasive grains are easily detached from the abrasive tool, resulting in a short service life, while the entire wear process of ceramic microcrystalline abrasives prepared by the sol-gel method is also the self-sharpening process of the abrasive grains themselves, during the service life, when the tiny grains in the dulled surface layer of the abrasive grains detach from the abrasive grains under the action of grinding force, new sharp grinding edges are continuously exposed, keeping the abrasive grains always in a sharp state。Abrasive tools made from this abrasive have the characteristics of long service life, good self-sharpening property, high cutting efficiency, and resistance to burning the workpiece。
Due to their different microstructures, ceramic microcrystalline abrasives prepared by the sol-gel method have different abrasive grain fracture behaviors。Ceramic microcrystalline abrasives exhibit intergranular fracture failure, while traditional fused corundum abrasive grains mostly exhibit transgranular fracture failure, and the toughness of ceramic microcrystalline abrasive grains is about twice that of traditional fused corundum abrasive grains。
Due to its uniform fine microcrystalline structure, high toughness and micro-fracture performance,it is widely used in grinding difficult-to-machine materials such as tool steel, tough stainless steel, and heat-resistant alloy steel。
II、Characteristics of abrasive tools made from ceramic corundum:
1、The abrasive grains are sharp, with strong cutting ability and high grinding efficiency。They can be used for deep-cut,high-feed,heavy-load,and high-efficiency grinding。According to tests, the feed per single pass can reach 0.3mm or more, and the metal removal rate is more than twice that of ordinary corundum grinding wheels。
2、Good toughness, low wear, and good grinding wheel shape retention。When used for precision grinding and form grinding,it is easy to obtain high dimensional accuracy and consistency in dimensional shape。
3、The grinding wheel has high durability and a long service life, which can reach 5---10 times that of ordinary corundum grinding wheels, with a low replacement frequency, reducing auxiliary processing time and downtime, which is conducive to the use of CNC automatic machine tools and the realization of automated production。
4、The grinding wheel has good self-sharpening property and does not clog。It can maintain stable grinding performance, because the dressing amount can be reduced (about 1/3 of that of ordinary corundum grinding wheels),the number of dressing operations can be reduced, and production efficiency can be improved。
5、In terms of performance,it is far superior to ordinary fused corundum grinding wheels, and in terms of price,it is far lower than CBN and diamond abrasives, while its hardness is similar to that of ordinary corundum abrasives,so it does not require special grinding equipment and dressing devices, and there are no special requirements for grinding equipment and dressing difficulties associated with CBN and diamond, nor are there any special requirements for grinding fluid, making it easy to promote and use。
