The core advantage of chrome corundum comes from the continuous solid solution formed by Al₂O₃ and Cr₂O₃。When the Cr₂O₃ content is 3%-70wt%,the two form a high-melting-point(>2050℃)aluminum-chromium solid-solution phase at high temperatures above 1600℃,enabling the material to maintain high strength even at high temperatures。Experimental data show that when the Cr₂O₃ addition amount is 3%,the cold compressive strength of corundum refractory materials can reach 42.7MPa,an increase of 115% compared with no addition。


The improvement of its corrosion resistance is closely related to the regulation of slag viscosity。Cr₂O₃ can form high-melting-point compounds with SiO₂,FeO,etc. in slag(for example,the melting point of the Cr₂O₃-SiO₂ low eutectic reaches 1720℃),while increasing slag viscosity and slowing the corrosion rate。In glass melting furnace applications,the corrosion rate of chromium-containing refractory materials is 40% lower than that of ordinary corundum materials,and the service life is extended to more than 3 years。

II、Application scenarios:full coverage from metallurgical furnaces to precision equipment

Non-ferrous metallurgy field

In copper smelting furnaces,the lining material must withstand a high temperature of 1300℃,erosion by SiO₂/FeO-based slag,and temperature fluctuations caused by lance replacement。Chrome corundum bricks,with refractoriness above 1800℃ and a creep rate of 0.1%/h,have become mainstream lining materials。After use in a certain smelter,the lining life increased from 12 months to 36 months,and the refractory cost per ton of copper decreased by 65%。

Glass manufacturing industry

The small furnaces and target wall areas of glass furnace regenerators are subject to long-term corrosion by molten glass,and the corrosion depth of ordinary corundum materials reaches 6.4mm/year。After adopting chrome corundum products containing 15%Cr₂O₃,the corrosion depth decreased to 4.2mm/year,and the thermal shock resistance(number of 1100℃ water-cooling cycles)increased from 15 cycles to 25 cycles,ensuring continuous furnace operation。

The operating temperature of a coal-water slurry gasifier reaches 1400℃,and the furnace contains reducing gases such as CO and H₂。Chrome corundum castables form a dense oxide layer by adding Cr₂O₃,improving CO reduction resistance by 30%。In a certain coal chemical project,the lining life was extended from 18 months to 42 months,reducing furnace shutdown and maintenance losses by more than 20 million yuan。
